Pieter Boel or Peeter Boel (October 10, 1622 - September 3, 1674) was a Flemish painter, printmaker, and tapestry designer. He specialized in sumptuous still lifes and animal paintings. He moved to Paris, where he worked at the Gobelin factory and became a painter for the king. Pieter Boel revolutionized animal painting by working directly from live models in a natural environment.
