Andrea Cavalcanti "Disciple and heir" of Filippo Brunnelleschi. The Strauss Madonna and Child

Andrea Cavalcanti, disciple and heir of Filippo Brunelleschi, works together with his father on projects for private and public commissions. Besides the most famous portrait of his adoptive father, his most requested works by the wealthy nobility were bas-reliefs dedicated to the Madonna with Child. The commissions were distinguished by the preciousness of the finishes. This essay lists all the versions, including the most precious one in gold and precious stones (the Strauss version).
